Bachlorette Party Package is in the Lounge

Planning a wedding can be hard enough, which is why we take care of everything for you when you come to Captain’s Walk.

Looking for somewhere to start your bachlorette party shenanigans? Our Bachlorette Lounge Party is just the option your looking for.

What does it entail?

What it cost?

This package is a $100 value, but you only have to pay $75! That’s a 25% savings! Which works out to be only $6.25 per person.*

Tell me more about the wines!

  • 7 Seas: Experience oceans of flavor with this blend of seven American-grown grapes. Vibrant aromas of fresh pear, ripe apple, and aromatic apricot mingle in the natural acidity of this one-of-a-kind creation.
  • Captain’s Red: A highly quaffable off-dry (lightly sweet) red that is smooth and supple with low tannins. This easygoing vino finishes nicely with an ecstatic flair of black cherry, elderberry and raspberry.
  • Naughty Girl: Elegant yet sassy, she dances on your palate with the grace of a full-bodied red and the excitement of fresh black raspberries.
  • Gewurztraminer: A semi-sweet German style white with botanical notes of roses, honeysuckle and ginger. Loaded with pleasing fruit flavors of ripe apple, pear and guava, finished with a savory citrus tang. A zesty apple, pear and ginger cuvée that drinks well on its own or with spicy Thai food.
  • Titletown: Capturing the brightness of Monday night lights and the brilliance of a winning play, this fruity and effervescent wine has intense orange, guava and passion fruit aromas.

This package is also great for Bridal Showers!

Self Guided Wine Tasting

by Rayanne Racine

Self Guided Wine Tasting now an option at Captain's Walk Winery

The Self Guided Wine Tasting we offer has been known as a hidden gem offering at Captain’s Walk. Those that have done it, can’t wait to do it again. And those that haven’t, haven’t heard of it. Well it’s time for that to change!

The Self Guided Wine Tasting isn’t our newest, but it is our most recommended offering.

When you reserve the Self Guided Wine Tasting, you will be asked to choose up to 7 varieties of wines or ciders from our wine list. If you would prefer us to choose the wines for you, we will be sure to choose wines for every palate! The selected wines will be poured into carafes and set out in recommended tasting order. A staff member will give a quick briefing on the recommended order and then be on their way to let enjoy your Self Guided Wine Tasting.

How many? What’s the Cost? We recommend a group no larger than 12 individuals. Reserving the room & having the Self Guided Wine Tasting costs $25 in addition to a purchase of 2 bottles of wine (minimum total for both bottles is $28). This allows for a 2 hour block of time session in our lounge.

Not only is this a great option, but it also provides great benefits! All guests receive $1 off glasses of wine and 10% additional purchases of bottles of wine, retail purchases and Bistro menu items during your visit. Feel free to check out our Bistro menu before attending and let us know if you would like something set out for you once you arrive.

This is a great option for family gatherings or just a great time catching up with friends!

If you have any questions or would like to reserve the lounge for a Self Guided Wine Tasting, give us a call at 920-431-9255 or email Donna, our events coordinator, at donna@captainswalkwinery.com. Reservations must be made two weeks prior.

Bachlorette parties and bridal showers are encouraged to check out our Bachlorette Party Package.

2016 International Tasters Guild Medal Winners

May 11, 2016 by PJ Koehler

Tasters Guild Medal

The final results of the 2016 International Tasters Guild Wine Competition are in!

The 2016 International Tasters Guild Competition is a highly competitive environment: over 1,600 wines from ten countries and 36 U.S. states and provinces. Out of all of these wines, only 72 were awarded Double Gold!

Double Gold Medal Winner 2012 Cabernet SauvignonThe 2014 Captain’s White, 2013 Chardonnay, and 2015 Sauvignon Blanc were all awarded silver medals in their respective categories. What was most exciting though was the very high honor of being a part of that 4% of Double Gold winners with our own Double Gold winner: the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon!

How does a wine win the title of Double Gold?  Dana Alexander, a columnist for the publisher New York Wines, explains how the process of a wine competition is approached in the article “How a Wine Competition Works.” The author explains at length how there are different types of competitions in the wine community and how awards are given based on the individual nominations of the judges within a collective panel. Essentially, each judge gives a certain number of points based on the same facets of wine: “color, clarity, aroma, bouquet, taste, aftertaste, and overall quality.” (Alexander)

In a separate article, “What Does a Gold Medal Mean Anyway?”, columnist Greg Walter explains the impact of winning a Double Gold medal and why the award is not only a positive for the wine itself but also for the winery!

Captain’s Walk Winery can’t wait to share this fantastic wine with you the next time you come in, so make sure to ask for a sample of the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon and “taste” what all the hype is about!

This Cheese Event is Going to Be “Wheel-y” Big!

April 12, 2016 by PJ Koehler

There are things in life that just go together, like peanut butter and jelly. Or sand and surf. And don’t forget the Green and Gold! Here at Captain’s Walk Winery, the two things that really go well together are wine and cheese. We just can’t get enough of them, and we know you can’t either!

That’s why we’re excited to be bringing a unique cheese to the winery for a special event!

Where Cheese is the Champion and Wisconsin a Winner

On March 9th, the World Champion Cheese Contest came to a close with many winners from all over Wisconsin. One in particular, the Pleasant Ridge Reserve, placed 16th out of 2,955 entries! Knowing how much our customers love trying new things, we ordered an entire wheel.

Read about the Pleasant Ridge Reserve.

That’s right. We’re going to have 10 pounds of delicious, award-winning Pleasant Ridge Reserve crafted from milk only produced by grass-fed cows right here at Captain’s Walk. And it’s waiting for you to try it!

With that said, we’d like to invite you and all your cheese-loving friends to the following…

Wheel-y” Big Cheese Event!
April 23rd from Noon until 6:00 PM

We’ll be hand-slicing the Pleasant Ridge Reserve for you to sample. If you like it, we’ll slice a whole wedge off the wheel for you. Take home and enjoy with a meal, or maybe just pair it with one of our wines! Whatever you do, the only requirement is to savor it!

Somethings in life just go together. Like a good time and Captain’s Walk Winery.

Tap into Two New Beers from Ahnapee Brewery this Season

February 29, 2016 by PJ Koehler

The creator of hand-crafted beers that can now be found in our Bistro!

March brings more than just a break from dreary winter weather, it also brings a great opportunity to experience a taste of new beers. Thanks to the hard work of our sister-establishment Ahnapee Brewery, we now have two very delicious ales on tap just ready to be tapped into!

The “Fun Guy” Beer

The Fun Guy Ale is Ahnapee Brewery’s spring seasonal and just in time! Early mushroom season in the Northwoods is right around the corner.

  • a deep copper to brown color;
  • low to medium hop flavor and aroma;
  • medium bitterness (19 IBU); and
  • medium body.

The roasted malt has caramel- and chocolate-like characteristics of medium intensity. These characteristics can be found in both flavor and aroma. Malt notes are complimented by the earthy, nutty, buttery, and meaty flavors. The somewhat smoky flavors of mushrooms such as morels, porcini, lobster, and oyster enhance and round out the taste. They also explain the pun of the brew’s clever name of “Fun Guy”!

This is a Nick Calaway original that you don’t want to miss!

The “Little Soldier” Beer

The Little Soldier is an American Amber Ale named after the original Ahnapee Brewery brewmaster: Henry Schmiling. A short-statured man, Henry served in the Civil War and was brewmaster of Ahnapee from 1868 to 1886.

  • light copper to light brown color;
  • balanced caramel malt and American hops from aroma to finish;
  • medium body carries a light fruitiness;
  • medium hop bitterness (35 IBU);
  • medium flavor; and
  • medium aroma.

This ale is a truly fine American-style session beer, perfect for any occasion!

With these new beers on tap, our beer-lovers will have no problem finding something new to enjoy at Captain’s Walk Winery. So stop in and enjoy the taste of fresh beer in our cozy bistro, and don’t forget to take some home with you in one of our Anhapee Brewery growlers!

Welcoming the Classic Art of the Classic Car

January 21, 2016 by Brad Schmiling

Classic Car

Whether it’s the simple beauty of body or the complexity of the construction, the call of a classic car is undeniably felt by one and all, yet the winter months that herald snow and cold put a definite chill upon that warm feeling as the classics are safely packed away, hidden from sight but not mind. That’s why it’s with much excitement that I’m able to announce the installation of a very new, and very welcomed, presence in the Green Bay community: the Automotive Gallery!

Thanks to the founder of PDQ Car Wash, Red Lewis, the Denil Cadillac dealership just across the way at the corner of Adams and Crooks Street has been restored into a gallery to display his personal collection of classic cars. More than just cars, these works of art allow of the up-close and personal experience that every aficionado craves. The space is large enough to hold the cars and provide additional room for events in the executive conference room supplemented with catering and dining options (with our own wines on the list!) While the public tours aren’t set to begin until late winter or early spring, there’s still hope for those that are truly interested: the opportunity of a private tour.

So if you’re still stuck on what to get that special someone that takes pride in the classic car and every working part that goes into it, there’s a simple, and romantic, solution: make a date night of a classic car show and dinner with drinks at Captain’s Walk! Reservations can be made at both for a unique and enjoyable experience that not only capture the classic feel of romance, but the nostalgia of the holiday season as well.

Captain’s Walk participates in Green Bay’s first Restaurant Week!

July 25, 2013 by PJ Koehler

For a place like Captain’s Walk Winery, 345 S. Adams St., Green Bay, it’s an important chance to put the focus on their dinner menu and food items — not just their signature wines.

“We actually just started our commercial kitchen recently within the last year and we wanted to help promote the fact that we do serve food here,” said Jocelyn Ehlert, the event coordinator and assistant manager at Captain’s Walk. “We thought it was a great involvement. We’re definitely hoping to get new customers; we’re looking forward to seeing some new faces and even some old faces that haven’t seen our menu yet.”
