Futures Wine Tasting

February 23, 2020 by Rayanne Racine

Futures Tasting will take place at our Vintage Table.

Join us on Sunday, February 23rd, for an exclusive wine tasting opportunity.

Futures Wine Tasting

Futures Wine Tasting is offered for those who want the exclusive chance to taste upcoming releases before bottling.

The wines are presented by one of our winemakers in the intimate and unique vintage cellar at Captain’s Walk Winery. While sampling these unique wines, we encourage you to write comments on how they taste, you’d be surprised on how much change the wine undergoes while in the bottle.

During the Futures Wine Tastings, guests are offered the opportunity to secure a quantity of sought after wines at a special pricing in advance of bottling and subsequent general release.

The weather might be cold and there is still snow on the ground, but February means we are one month closer to spring. In fact, it is believed that Valentine’s Day evolved from the Roman festival of Lupercalia that was held mid-February. The festival was to welcome spring and fertility, at least that is what our Google search told us, and you know that everything that you find on the internet is correct, right?
This February, in honor of Valentine’s Day, we are featuring one of our sister winery’s, top sellers, von Stiehl Naughty Girl. Elegant yet sassy, she dances on your palate with the grace of a full-bodied red and the racy excitement of fresh black raspberries. Layers of dark fruit and curvaceous tannins lead into a smooth and exquisite finish of this very versatile red. Enjoy with roasted foods, grilled foods, robust cheeses, and sweet foods. Try making a reduction with this wine or add as part of ‘the liquid’ in a sauce recipe. Pour it into a big glass to accompany a big juicy blue cheeseburger.
Speaking of a great wine pairing, you need to try the seven Round Robin pairings throughout Green Bay and De Pere. If you complete the Round Robin you will receive a Captain’s Walk logo Riedel crystal glass and have the chance to win other prizes.
Stop in all month long for a free sample of Naughty Girl with a paid tasting. Plus, our hard cider menu is always changing with unique hard ciders created right here at Captain’s Walk.
See you soon!
~Cheers

August 25, 2018 by Rayanne Racine

Summer is a time for relaxing, basking in the sun, and sipping sangria in the company of people you like. So, do it at a place you know you love: Captain’s Walk Winery! Our Sangria and Salsa Saturdays have always been a big hit, and this summer it’s forecasted to be the same!

Come taste our fantastic new recipe for a tart and fruity rosé sangria to be paired with homemade salsa served from our stand out on the front lawn.

Sangria and Salsa

When is the Sangria and Salsa available?

Every Saturday, June through August, you’ll be able to find handmade sangria being served between 11 AM and 1 PM.  If the weather’s good, then so are we, since you’ll be able to snag an awesome deal!

An order from the stand gets you all of the delicious items below:

  • One carafe (one liter) of our Summer Sangria
  • One basket of chips and homemade salsa

All of that for $12.00! This fruit-filled drink we feature is a summer favorite with many and appeals to a variety of palates! With hints of tart fruit, sweet wine, and the classic addition of fresh fruit, you’ll have to taste it for yourself and find out exactly what everyone is so excited about.

Our salsa is also a long-time summer special that changes just enough every year to keep it interesting. What you can expect is a mixture of tomatoes, tomatillos, cilantro, onion, and roasted garlic. What’s our secret ingredient, you ask? We can’t tell you, but you’re welcome to come get some salsa and see if you can figure it out!

From the Downtown Green Bay Farmer’s Market to Captain’s Walk, it’s an easy hop, skip, and a jump from browsing, to relaxing, on Saturday mornings. Join the Captain, and raise a glass to summer!
