COVID-19 Update

March 24, 2020 by Molly Schroeder

As we navigate through this difficult time in our country, the most important thing to us is keeping our customers, employees, friends, and family safe. Starting tomorrow March 25, Captain’s Walk Winery will only be open for curb-side pick up Tuesday through Saturday from 11 am to 5 pm and closed Sunday and Monday until further notice.

Wine can still be ordered online and shipped via UPS. We encourage you to pre-order wine to be picked up by calling (920) 431-9255. You can place your order over the phone and then give us a call when you arrive at Captain’s Walk Winery. We will then place your ordered wine outside our front door with your name on it for you to pick up.

We are taking these extreme measures to reduce any risk to our customers, employees, and our community. We thank you for your understanding and support through this difficult time. We look forward to opening our tasting room to all of our amazing customers as soon as we can!

Cheers,

Captain’s Walk Winery Family

Our Response to COVID-19

March 13, 2020 by Molly Schroeder
To our Captain’s Walk friends and family,
In response to the coronavirus (COVID-19), we want to share with you the steps that we have taken to keep our employees, customers, and products safe. We are upgrading sanitation practices in the tasting room, which means additional, more frequent cleaning and sanitizing. We also have encouraged our employees to stay home at the slightest sign of illness.
During this time, our tasting rooms will remain open, and currently scheduled events will still take place. If you visit our tasting room, please know that we are going above and beyond in our cleaning procedures to help ensure the safest possible environment for guests and staff. We will continue to follow the CDC guidelines and adjust our protocols as the situation develops.
Let’s all work together to be safe, healthy, and happy as we move forward during this challenging time!
Sincerely,
Your Captain’s Walk Winery Family

March Captain’s Notes

March 3, 2020 by Molly Schroeder
Have you come out of hibernation yet? If not, it’s time to embrace that spring is almost here, as the first official day is March 19th. Although we will probably still have a big spring snowfall, you can still enjoy each sunny day with your favorite glass of Captain’s Walk wine or hard cider. As the season changes, we will also be changing up our hard ciders. Watch our Facebook page for announcements of when our spring seasonal hard ciders will be released.
During March, we will be featuring one of our staple wines, Cabernet Sauvignon. This becomes an instant favorite of our red wine drinkers. It has a cacophony of aromas including jam, toffee and cigar box, all tied together with a hint of toasty oak and mocha. The wine is full of concentrated fruit flavors of currant, boysenberry and ripe plum.
If you’re looking for the ideal food pairing for Cabernet Sauvignon, you don’t have to look very far. Almost any red meat, especially served rare, is going to do the trick. Seasonings that tend to flatter the wine are garlic, rosemary, mint and porcini mushrooms. A simple pairing with blue cheese, Gouda or aged cheddar would also be successful. Stop in all month long for a free sample of Captain’s Walk Cabernet Sauvignon with a paid tasting.
See you soon!

February 3, 2020 by Molly Schroeder
The weather might be cold and there is still snow on the ground, but February means we are one month closer to spring. In fact, it is believed that Valentine’s Day evolved from the Roman festival of Lupercalia that was held mid-February. The festival was to welcome spring and fertility, at least that is what our Google search told us, and you know that everything that you find on the internet is correct, right?
This February, in honor of Valentine’s Day, we are featuring one of our sister winery’s, top sellers, von Stiehl Naughty Girl. Elegant yet sassy, she dances on your palate with the grace of a full-bodied red and the racy excitement of fresh black raspberries. Layers of dark fruit and curvaceous tannins lead into a smooth and exquisite finish of this very versatile red. Enjoy with roasted foods, grilled foods, robust cheeses, and sweet foods. Try making a reduction with this wine or add as part of ‘the liquid’ in a sauce recipe. Pour it into a big glass to accompany a big juicy blue cheeseburger.
Speaking of a great wine pairing, you need to try the seven Round Robin pairings throughout Green Bay and De Pere. If you complete the Round Robin you will receive a Captain’s Walk logo Riedel crystal glass and have the chance to win other prizes.
Stop in all month long for a free sample of Naughty Girl with a paid tasting. Plus, our hard cider menu is always changing with unique hard ciders created right here at Captain’s Walk.
See you soon!

Bring the Title to Your Town

November 1, 2019 by Molly Schroeder

The legendary home of the green and gold is only a short drive from Captain’s Walk Winery. The excitement on and around game days in Green Bay is palpable, not only at the winery but around town, which is why there is no better place to be than Titletown. That is why this November we will be featuring our celebratory Titletown Moscato!
This is a fruity effervescent wine with intense orange, guava, and passion fruit aromas. The secret to pairing any wine with food is a balance. Titletown Moscato is sweet, so ideally you should pair it with foods possessing opposite flavor profiles-spicy, sour, salty, bitter. Titletown Moscato is perfect with appetizers, sweet brunch dishes, dessert, and alone as an aperitif.
Stop in during November and receive a complimentary sample of Titletown Moscato with your tasting. Bring the sweet taste of victory home with you to enjoy during the next big game!
While you are at Captain’s Walk, get ahead of the holiday buying rush too! We will help you find the perfect gifts for your family and friends, so you can just sit back and enjoy your wine while everyone else is stressing out.
See you soon!
~Cheers

Happy Fall Y’all

October 2, 2019 by Molly Schroeder
Happy Fall Y’all
The leaves are starting to turn and we know your sweaters and scarfs have migrated to the front of your closet.
Since the warm sunny days will be “disappearing”, we wanted to feature Captain’s Walk Winery’s most popular dessert-style wine, Disappearing Treasure.
It is a perfect union of late harvest Riesling and Gewurztraminer that displays mellow flavors of pear, honey, melon, and peach. It is meant to be celebrated and treasured.
What is a late harvest wine? Late harvest wines are made from grapes that are left on the vine even after they’ve reached their peak ripeness. These grapes become sweeter over time as the sugar content becomes more concentrated. Try a late harvest blend with a lemon pound cake or a crème brûlée. Also, enjoy a wonderful balance with creamy light cheeses like Mascarpone.
We will be offering complimentary samples of Disappearing Treasure with a tasting during October. Treat yourself this October with a wine that will disappear once you open it.
See you soon!
