Forget the Pumpkin Spice Lattes and opt for a glass of wine as the days get cooler and the nights become a little longer. Wine is the best way to unwind after a long day. This is the time of year when the vineyard changes colors and grapes start to produce their sugars in preparation for harvest.
To celebrate the harvest season, we look forward to Wet Whistle Wine Fest taking place September 13th and 14th in Algoma, Wisconsin. Wet Whistle Wine Fest is a wine festival unlike any other and our sister winery, von Stiehl, helps to put it on. As a bonus, Captain’s Walk Titletown Moscato will be available to purchase. At this year’s festival, we hope to see you enjoy wine, music, and friends of new and old, all while helping to raise funds for the Community Improvement of Algoma.
Our September featured wine is Fumé Blanc. This dry white wine greets your nose with the aromas of toffee, rose blossom, and caramel apple. An incredibly full and juicy wine with flavors of pineapple, gooseberries, and butterscotch. Finishing with cleansing notes of citrus and lemongrass. This barrel-aged Sauvignon Blanc is great with white fish, shucked oysters, and light foods. Filet of Sole, breaded and fried with a tartar sauce, is a great match. Additionally, cheeses such as Montamoré or a Bellavitano are perfectly paired. Stop in all month long to try a free sample of Fumé Blanc with your tasting.
Lastly, we will be holding our next Glass to Gallery this coming Sunday, September 8th. We still have room for more painters. The cost is $35 per painter and that includes equipment and supplies. Please call the winery at (920) 431-WALK (9255) to sign up or our events page for more details.
See you soon!
