Small Batch Cuvée Trois
The best part about a small batch wine is that it gives us and you something new to try, and if nobody likes it – no problem! We just won’t make it again. Our first vintage of Cuvée Trois was awarded a Gold medal from Tasters Guild International, and was so well-received that we plan to bring it back this fall.
What is a Cuvée? Some may say it’s whatever you want it to be! In France, cuve means tank or vat. That could mean that the wine spent some time aging away from oak. What a shame! Cuvée can have a few different meanings outside of France. For our purposes it denotes a special batch that received our utmost attention. To be sure that we’re not in France, we use the word cuvée to recognize a special blend of multiple grapes.
Have you ever opened a bottle of Sangiovese while finishing the last glass of Cabernet Sauvignon from a previous bottle and thought, what if I mix them? Now you’re getting the idea. By blending three different red wines that are all aged in our cellars, we create something entirely new… that’s old. Our three grapes of choice are Primitivo, Zinfandel, and Petite Sirah. For good measure, we used 33.3% of each variety. By this point you may have figured out where the Trois comes from.
If you’re still a little foggy, we’ll be sure to clear up any questions at the Cuvée Trios release party. Join us on November 21st from noon to 7pm for a re-release Cuvée Trois party where you’ll save $5 per bottle and enjoy half price glasses of this premiere small batch wine!
